Well I haven’t written in my blog for a while… and what has been taking up my free time is a game called Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for the XBOX 360! Let me say, this game is amazing in all aspects of play. The single player storyline is out of Hollywood movie… and the multiplayer aspect is like you really are in the middle of a modern warfare battle! From the start of the single player game you begin your training at a special ops base and feel you’re one of the special forces personal. I got to tell you the graphics for this game are amazing.. optimized for 1080p for anyone who has an HDTV. Granted, I don’t own an HDTV, but even on my CRT the graphics are breath taking. Yeah, I know… I need to get an HDTV. Let me continue on with the single player review of Call of Duty 4… after you familiarize yourself with your weapons at the special forces base your first assignment is to infiltrate a giant oil tanker manned by terrorists. You’re dropped off in the middle of the night and it’s raining in the middle of the ocean. The boat is rocking back and forth as you work your way down to the bowels of the ship. An explosion happens and the ship starts sinking, you and your teammates have to run out of this ship that’s tearing itself apart to meet up with a helicopter. All your teammates make it to the helicopter and you’re the last one on the ship that’s half in the water, the helicopter is about to leave the deck of the ship and you have to jump to the edge of helicopter’s rear hatch. You have to press “A” button on the controller to jump and you’re hanging on the edge of the helicopter as your Captain pulls you up inside the helicopter to safety… *whew*… and after that you see the opening credits of the game like a Hollywood movie. I can explain it, but you have to experience it yourself to get the full effect. Now for the multiplayer aspect… there are some features that would of been great to have, and I guess that’s because Halo 3 spoiled us but regardless, you feel like you’re in the middle of the battle and options for gameplay will last you a long time. First there are 55 basic levels you can gain in multiplayer starting as a private (level 1) all the way to Commander (level 55). As you level up you gain many options such as new weapons and abilities which are called Perks in the game. With these perks you can custom make your own class of soldier you would want to play. For instance, there’s a perk that gives you more stopping power with your bullets, another gives you the ability to be undetected by enemy radar. There’s a lot of them to choose from, so no matter what your play style you can have the perfect set up! As of this writing I’m level 38 which is a Lt. Colonel. At max level of 55 in multiplayer you have an option to go prestige mode, which is basically a bragging rights mode. What you do when you activate prestige mode is get rid of all the achievements and special weapons you gathered on the way to level 55 and start from scratch. Back to level 1 with all the basic weapons and all you started with… the only difference is you have this special icon next to your name. I’ll pass. What I’m going to is try to get all the Golden Guns in the game instead of going prestige. The way you get a golden version of a special gun is complete ALL the challenges of that particular gun group. For assault rifles it’s the golden AK-47, which I’m going to try to get first. Which is better than the prestige icon because when you die in multiplayer you get a quick replay of how you died through the eyes of the enemy that killed you. So if I kill someone, they’ll see me killing them with the golden AK-47! muahahaha So anyway, that’s my quick overview of Call of Duty 4. For any fan of a FPS game… GET IT! You will not be disappointed! |
