I think at last I heard it was up to 9 million subscriptions and counting. I quit playing early this year because it was the same boring grind over and over again… …that and most of the people I played with quit too because they were tired of Blizzard’s broken promises on improving the game. However, the game has crossed over again to help in advertising another market. This time it’s in the form of Toyota and their “Four Wheels of Fury” commercial. I think the commercial was quite well done and funny. It makes sense in promoting WoW with the Toyota Tacoma, the advertisers know they want to target males who are in the mid-20’s to mid-30’s and what you know, that’s the same target audience that mostly plays World of Warcraft! HA! I don’t think I’ll ever return to play the game, I’m actually waiting for another MMORPG in the form of Warhammer Online. However, I welcome more cross advertsing like this from these companies… What’s next, McDonald’s offering a new sandwich called the “Dragon Burger”? |
