Entered in by: Ron Atienza 9/11 - Sixth Anniversary
A moment of silence please. Today marks the sixth anniversary of one of the most horrible day in the history of mankind. September 11, 2001 was, for almost every single person in America, a day we will never forget… To remember this day I found a great collection of the Tribute in Lights that I found and I will mark this entry at 8:46 am, the time the first plane hit. I lost an old classmate of mine too on that day. I haven’t heard from him since high school, until I saw the street he use to live on renamed in memory of him and 9/11. I dedicate this entry to him and may his memory live long with his friends and family. Tommy, this one’s for you! |

Thanks for remembering Ron. Today is an important day.
My father was a fireman in Brooklyn for many years. Had he been alive to see that terrible day and the loss of so many of his fellow firefighters, I don’t know how he would have handled it.
We grew up with a lot of the people whose lives were lost that day. My family still feels a special bond with the firemen of New York City. I hope that by remembering, and praying, we are actually doing something to help prevent this kind of thing from ever happening again.

Hi Matt,
Thanks for the comment. Yes, it’s a time for reflection and remembering those that we lost. I admire all the men and women who risk their lives as their jobs so that they can make a difference in this world and help others. It takes someone special to do what they do.
